Many phone manufacturers have begun to produce touchscreen phones since the introduction of the Apple iPhone but not all of the touchscreens have the same accuracy. In fact their accuracies vary quite a lot.
I have tried my friend’s Sumsung Omnia and compared it with the iPhone that I used to own and the result is straightforward that the touchscreen of iPhone is far superior. Continuous use of the Sumsung Omnia is quite frustrating although I don’t mean to hurt the feelings of Omnia owners here.
To prove the statement above, here is a more scientific way of testing the accuracy of some of the best smartphones that you can get in town. The phones used here are the iPhone, the HTC Droid Eris, Motorola Droid, the Google Nexus One, Palm Pre and Blackberry Strom 2.
The technique used to test them is simple. Basically, it uses a drawing application and a finger to slowly trace straight lines on the screen of each device. The phone that is able to produce the straightest line is considered to have the best sensor accuracy. Less superior sensors will show lines with wavy patterns, stair-steps, or both.
Check out the picture of the result below and you can decide for yourself which phone that you should buy the next time around.
