Following the Apple’s purchase of “iPad” trademark from Fujitsu (click here to read), here is another “thing” that Apple might be interested in purchasing – an iPad domain name.
Before I continue with the story, I would like to disclaim that this post has nothing to do with tomorrow’s April Fool Day. Rest assured that the story here is real.
So here’s the story:
About a year ago when Apple’s latest creation (as now we know as iPad) is still in the wonderland of Steve Jobs mind, Nik Tyler, a record producer from Woodstock, has made an inspired guess of the name of Apple’s upcoming product. At that point of time, he believed that the next tablet computer would be named “iPad”.
So he has bought the domain name for ipaddownload.com, ipaddownloads.com and ipaddownloads.net for $6 apiece.
Now that Apple has been taking pre-orders and soon to deliver the iPads, he has put all the domains for sale for a whooping US $1 million each. Wow! this might be one of the best investments anyone can make.
Apparently, he is not the only person that is trying to capitalize on the ipad domain name. There are about 300 listings for ipad domain names with some asking price as high as $21 million.
There are as many as a dozen offers being received by Tyler but none come close to the price he wanted. Some companies and developers have even offered him to develop the sites to generate traffic for ad sales.
But as of now, I have no idea how’s things turned out. If you are interested in making the offer, there is no need to check the ebay now as the listing has ended but there are many other ipad domain names available for sale (click here to see).
Therefore, the next time around, you should make a guess on what Apple’s new product going to be named. Who knows you might name a fortune.

I own the domain names fingerlite.com and firefingerlite.com which i think are applications for ipads. I need to sell them so maybe we can have a christmas does anyone know how i think they must be worth quite a bit to the right people.
thanks terry
