How to Use Multi-Core to Speed Up Your Windows 7’s Boot Up Process

If you have just bought your computer or laptop in the recent years, chances are the PC or laptop that you have bought were equipped with multi-core processors like Intel Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad or the latest Core i7.

For Windows 7 users, you can actually make use of these excess cores to speed up your computer’s boot up process. What’s best is that you won’t even need to install any software to do so. Here’s how to it:

  • Click on your start button, in the search box, type msconfig and hit enter.

  • A System Configuration screen will appear.

  • Go to the Boot tab and click on Advance options…
  • Tick on the check box for Number of processors and select the number of processors you want to use for your boot up.

  • Click on OK.
  • Then hit on Apply button and the computer will prompt you to restart the computer so that the setting and take effect.

Once you have enabled the setting, your computer will restart using the number of processors you selected. The more processors used, the faster the boot up process.
