Websites banned by MCMC but accessible using VPN

On 30th May 2011, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had ordered the blocking of 10 websites. The websites are the P2P/torrent sites which were among the most visited sites by Malaysians to illegally download movies. Not just movies, stuffs like software, applications, songs and books are not downloadable from these websites anymore.

The banned website are

  1. www.warez-bb.org
  2. thepiratebay.org
  3. www.movie2k.to
  4. www.megavideo.com
  5. www.putlocker.com
  6. www.depositfiles.com
  7. www.duckload.com
  8. www.fileserve.com
  9. www.filestube.com
  10. www.megaupload.com

Generally, the ISPs block these sites via their DNS server. However, these websites still accessible using Virtual Private Network (VPN). It is a secure way of connecting to a private Local Area Network at a remote location.

One of the VPN program that i recommend is the CyberGhost VPN. Try it yourself!

Aside from that, there are plenty FREE VPN programs available via internet which you can use.
